Finding the most competitive insurance for your motorbike has been easy with the influx of insurers now making their presence felt on the internet. Many use television advertising as a way to grab your attention and hopefully your custom.

Anyone who watches commercial television stations will no doubt be sick and tired of hearing about ways to cut your insurance premiums, whether it is for your house, your contents, your van, car or motorbike just so long as you buy from the company paying the thousands of pounds for prime time TV advertising.

You could even argue that rather spending thousand on advertising some, if not all, of these insurance companies could cut the cost of their premiums which will have a real impact on those looking for low cost insurance. However, research has proven that TV advertising is worth the insurance companies investing in as many people are guided by what they hear rather than what they see.

A good example of this is the small print which accompanies these adverts. Look closely and you will see that in order to qualify for the insurance cover being advertised you have to meet the criteria, terms and conditions, in reality not many people do and yet they will have heard that annoying advertising jingle or the use of cute little creatures and be drawn to at least taking a look at what's on offer. Don't be fooled by the power of television advertising!

There are a number of fundamental aspects of insurance which are offered by all of the leading insurers, whether they advertise on TV or not.

* Look for genuine discounts and if necessary swap insurers to take advantage on new customer deals.

* The amount of miles you ride your motorbike each year also makes a difference in the amount you pay for your motorcycle policy. If you use it on a limited basis, consider looking into companies that offer a discount for those that travel less than a specified number of miles each year.

* For women that ride a motorcycle, some companies offer a discount purely because women are seen as a lower risk than men so this is well worth investigating!

* All insurers will offer discounts to riders who have a proven history of claims free riding, the amount offered depends on the insurer, therefore this is also worth investigating to make sure you are getting the best deals.

* Let insurers know that you are shopping around as most will offer to meet any like for like quotation you are offered by their competitors, some are also offering cash back incentives simply for choosing to purchase with them!

There are some great insurance deals currently available for motorbike riders. It is just a matter of shopping around and not being taken in by advertising tactics which may not apply to you! Remember you can always put the phone down if you feel you are being hassled by an over enthusiastic sales consultant! Shop online for your motorcycle insurance and you don't even have to speak to anyone!
